A man who is all alone with no companion, he has no children nor siblings; yet there is no end to all his toil, and he is never satisfied with riches. He laments, “For whom am I toiling and depriving myself of pleasure?” This also is futile and a burdensome task!
The Fr version BDS Translation is:
Voilà un homme seul qui n’a personne avec lui : ni fils, ni frère, et pourtant, il travaille dur sans jamais s’arrêter. Jamais ses yeux ne se rassasient de richesses. « Pour qui donc est-ce que je travaille si dur ? Pour qui est-ce que je me prive de bonnes choses ? » se dit-il.
